8-Day Cairo & Nile Cruise Splendor Experience

Day 1: Arrival in Cairo – Welcome to Egypt
Arrive at Cairo International Airport, meet our representative for assistance and a private transfer to your hotel. Check in and relax after your journey, with the evening at leisure. Overnight in Cairo.

Day 2: The Giza Plateau, Egyptian Museum & Islamic Cairo
Meet your private Egyptologist guide and driver for a morning visit to the Giza Plateau to see the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, and the Great Sphinx. Optional (extra fee): enter a pyramid and/or enjoy a camel/horse ride. Continue with included stops at authorized papyrus, essence, and cotton workshops, plus a bazaar visit. After lunch, tour the Egyptian Museum, including Tutankhamun’s treasures (Royal Mummies Room optional). Conclude in Islamic Cairo at the Citadel and Mohamed Ali Mosque, with time in Khan El Khalili. In the evening, transfer to the station and board the overnight sleeper train to Aswan (dinner and private cabin). Overnight on the train.

Day 3: Arrival in Aswan – Embark on Your Nile Cruise
Morning arrival in Aswan and transfer to your Nile cruise for check-in and breakfast. Visit the Aswan High Dam, the ancient granite quarries with the Unfinished Obelisk, and the beautiful island Temple of Philae dedicated to Isis. Return to the ship to relax and enjoy onboard amenities. Overnight on the Nile cruise in Aswan.

Day 4: Sailing to Kom Ombo & Edfu
Sail north to Kom Ombo and visit the unique double temple shared by Sobek and Horus the Elder. Continue sailing to Edfu, enjoy lunch on board, then explore the magnificent Temple of Horus, Egypt’s best-preserved cult temple. Evening sail toward Esna. Dinner and overnight on the Nile cruise.

Day 5: Sail to Luxor & West Bank Exploration
Enjoy breakfast as you sail to Luxor. Disembark to explore the West Bank: descend into royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings (Tutankhamun’s tomb optional), admire the terraced Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, and stop at the Colossi of Memnon. Return to the ship to relax. Overnight on the Nile cruise in Luxor.

Day 6: Luxor East Bank & Sleeper Train Back to Cairo
After breakfast, disembark and tour the East Bank: the vast Karnak Temple Complex (Great Hypostyle Hall, Sacred Lake, obelisks) and atmospheric Luxor Temple and the Avenue of Sphinxes. Afternoon transfer to Luxor station to board the overnight sleeper train back to Cairo (dinner and private cabin). Overnight on the train.

Day 7: Arrival in Cairo & Optional Tours
Arrive in Cairo and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure, or choose optional tours (extra fee): the Step Pyramid of King Djoser at Sakkara and the open-air museum at ancient Memphis. Overnight in Cairo.

Day 8: Departure from Cairo – Farewell to Egypt
Enjoy breakfast, check out, and transfer to Cairo International Airport for your departing flight.

Note: Egyptian trains are designed and maintained according to standards of quality determined by the Egyptian Railway Authority. The sleeper train from Cairo to Aswan takes about 14 hours, and the journey from Luxor to Cairo takes about 11 hours. To reduce time spent traveling, you can upgrade your trip package for about $165 per person to travel by domestic flight instead (about 1.5 hours).
