The Valley of The Nobles, Scattered through the rocky hills on the West Bank of Luxor are the tombs of ancient Egypt’s nobles and high officials. Valley of the Nobles tombs are some of the best in Luxor, but least visited. So many tombs were discovered there and the whole area is still under excavation searching for more tombs to be discovered. The wall paintings in the Valley of the Nobles depict scenes drawn from daily life in ancient Egypt, with images of everything from artisans to animals.
The most important tomb in Valley of the Nobles is tomb number 55, which belongs to Ra-Mose, he was the mayor of Thebes during the time of king Amenophis III and his son Amenophis IV who changed his name to be Akhenaten.

Deir El-Medina, is the modern Arabic name for the worker’s village (now an archaeological site) which was home to the artisans and craftsmen of Thebes who built and decorated the royal tombs in the nearby Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens. The ancient inhabitants called the village Pa Demi (“the village”)
Deir el-Medina is among the most important archaeological sites in Egypt because of the wealth of information it provides on the daily life of the people who lived there.

Tour Overview

Discover some of the best conserved funeral monuments of the New Kingdom on this tour, visiting the burial site of Ramses III and the necropolis of the nobles and artisans.

What To Expect

Our representative will pick you up from your hotel, making our way to the west bank of Luxor, where you can find the necropolis of ancient Thebes, the ancient Egypt Capital.
Our first stop will be Medinet Habu, where the burial temple of Ramses III can be found, one of the city’s most important religious monuments. Its entrance is 63 metres wide and 22 metres tall, and bears a representation of the King himself punishing some prisoners. The tour will continue to the Valley of the Nobles, where you can find more than 500 tombs belonging to the members of the Egyptian aristocracy. We’ll take a look inside a number of the tombs to admire their decoration: having been less attractive to grave robbers, they tend to be much better preserved then the royal tombs.

Our final stop will be Deir el-Medina, an Egyptian town founded by King Thutmose I as homes for the workers and artisans of Ancient Egypt. For over 450 years this town was populated by the builders and decorators of the royal tombs, and you can still see archaeological evidence of this, making it one of the most studied towns from the period. After the tour finishes our representative will drop you back at your hotel.
